The State of Corporate Sustainability in China

I’ve had the privilege to serve as co-chair of the CSR committee (which is soon to be renamed the Business Sustainability Committee) of the American Chamber of Commerce-China (AmCham) for the last few years. Last year we partnered with The Conference Board (TCB) to get a better understanding of AmCham member’s needs and the current state of sustainability among companies doing business in China. We were particularly interested to learn about what companies are currently doing, what their challenges are, what tools & mechanisms they have in place, and what the role of the Chinese government is in driving the sustainability agenda.

A Year of Awakenings

When you celebrate a birthday or an anniversary, it normally doesn’t pass without a fair amount of emotion, and one year of Shared Purpose is no different! This was a huge year of awakenings – either slow dawnings or lightning-bolt revelations – for many of us in the business and extended CSR/sustainability communities.
